Vintage Christmas Card

Santa Is Coming Through The Chimney. It is an old German holiday greeting, shows how Santa Claus, or St. nick looked in 19th. century.  Santa's costume has always been predominantly red, but different illustrations of the poem "Night Before Christmas" contain some changes reflective of the time period. From 1880 until 1930, Santa is featured wearing a long, Father Christmas-style coat. A 1958 version of the poem shows a bald Santa without hat — a rarity, as Santa is almost always shown wearing a cap. In the 1960s, Santa's clothing became even more representative of popular culture. Neon oranges and acid greens prevail, while Santa is seen soaring through the sky in his hot-pink sleigh.

About a city Vicenza, Italy

Vicenza is an ancient city. In 157 BCE it became part of the Roman Empire under the name Vicetia or Vincentia. In 889 it was destroyed by the Hungarians, and in 1001 it became the seat of a bishop. In 1404 it became part of the Republic of Venice.


The 16th century was very important for Vicenza because Andrea Palladio built several villas and palaces. During the 19th century, after the fall of Napoleon, the city was taken by Austria, but in 1848 the citizens rebelled against the Austrian government and in 1866 it finally became part of the Kingdom of Italy.
